EVENTS IN SUPPORT OF PEACE ONE DAY
POD is on SUNDAY 21st SEPTEMBER 2014
(always on 21st September)

This year POD is again being supported by all the churches on the Height
and local community groups.
Thanks go to our Brownies and Guides who took part in this years awareness campaign
with their Theme nights.
Welcome onboard.

A great success in starting off the POD month!

PEACE ONE DAY AFTERNOON TEA

WEDNESDAY 17th SEPTEMBER at 2.00pm
A great afternoon was had by everyone. Thanks go to all at St Johns who helped out and put on a wonderful spread.

WEDNESDAY 17th SEPTEMBER
Thanks go to Mary and her team.
We are looking forward to the music night on Friday.

PEACE ONE DAY YOUTH EVENING
On FRIDAY 19th SEPTEMBER at 6.00pm
at The Height Youth Centre
Thanks go to the staff and the "guys" (colloquialsim which now includes girls too) at the YC for organising an evening about POD when over 40 youngsters were brought up to date with what POD was about.  Some of the guys also produced artwork about POD which will soon be published on this website

Our main event is the
PEACE ONE DAY COMMUNITY WALK
which will start at the Coop car park
at 10.15 am on
SATURDAY 20th SEPTEMBER
and walk along BOLTON ROAD to DRONFIELD ROAD
and then to the HMCC for refreshments and a short service.
The HMCC Concourse Cafe will be open from 10.30am
for those who can't manage the walk.
The rain stayed away and the walk brought together folk from all sorts of backgrounds. Thanks go to the Coop and all who made the walk a great success.

The HMCC will be holding
A PEACE ONE DAY (Cafe-style modern) WORSHIP
on
SUNDAY 21st SEPTEMBER at 11.15am
(sat around tables...cafe style....having coffee etc.... informal worship!)
including
"PEACE ONE DAY THE JOURNEY"
will be shown on screen on SUNDAY 21st SEPTEMBER  as part of our worship. It's only 23 minutes but it does give the story behind POD. Well worth watching if you are wanting Peace in this world and want to know about the organisation and Jeremy Gilley, its founder.
Please be aware that loud explosions and aircraft noise will be momentarily in the worship
and may cause distress to young and old for a few seconds.
Well....what can we say?  The place was packed and the singing raised the roof!  It was great to see so many people taking part in a very different style of worship.
Thanks go to all who produced the event and took part. Thanks go to the kiddie singers who must have thought they were auditioning for 'The X Factor.' They were wonderful. Thanks go to the musicians and also to the singers from "Habitation of Mercy" who led, turning the event into a "sore-hand, foot-tapping, tambourine-bashing fabulous morning." Thanks also go to those who helped out with lunch.  Thanks go also to Sam for photographing the event. What a fantastic day! So many people to thank!

A PEACE ONE DAY MUSIC NIGHT
also at THE VINE CAFE on
FRIDAY 26th SEPTEMBER at 7.30pm
What a fabulous evening! Thanks go to Ian and his team for all the arrangements.

The Inner Wheel Club of Swinton & Pendlebury
will be arranging a
PEACE ONE DAY ASSEMBLY
in one of the local primary schools.
The IW were at St Peters School in Swinton for the assembly which was attended by 280 children and staff and the children had put together their own tear-jerking song which sent shivers down the spine.  What a great and different assembly.  Very moving.  Thanks go to the headmaster and his staff and to IW for putting together the event.

PEACE ONE DAY SWINTON RUNNERS CLUB RUN
SUNDAY 28th SEPTEMBER
